We love working on closings. They are a welcome change from the often highly contentious nature of family law litigation. Our goal is for your transaction to be as seamless and positive as possible. Closing attorneys are really information coordinators – we follow instructions from your lender to get funding approval, work through your purchase contract with your realtor (as applicable), request and review your title search, serve as an agent for the title company issuing your title policy, accept funds through wires into our trust account and disperse funds pursuant to the closing disclosure statement which outlines what money comes in and what money goes out and where it goes. Vanessa is an agent for Chicago Title Insurance Company and they are a great support and resource for helping to resolve any obstacles that pop up in your search. We try to get back with you, lenders and realtors quickly in regard to answering your questions and providing documents you request which we have gathered. We do our best to juggle all the balls in the air along the way to the closing table. At the closing, we try to enjoy your sale or refinance since all the work is done (sometimes we have a few last-minute surprises to keep us on our toes) and make sure everything goes smoothly, gets filed properly and that all of your questions are answered. We have intentionally chosen not to utilize information portals through our closing software so we can be more hands on and personable. To accomplish this, we try to be very accessible to you, your realtor and lender.
